Five American Governors To Visit India To Strengthen Bilateral Ties - TNBCLive

The governors of the five states in the United States of America – Arkansas, New Jersey, Colorado, Indiana, and Delaware – are scheduled to visit India over the period of the coming few months to boost economic ties between the nations.

They will be lead by the high-powered trade delegations comprising top businesses from their respective states.

The extraordinary move of the five US governors to visit India in quick succession is a part of the efforts undertaken by President Trump’s Administration and PM Modi-led Government to strengthen state-to-state relationship.

The effort has been introduced by the Indian Ambassador to the US, Harsh Vardhan Shringla has travelled to 11 American states so far. Noted that states play a significant role in both the countries, and this is a very important initiative.

Mr. Shringla told sources, “Increasingly, states have an important say in economic activities, investment, trade, and people-to-people contact.”

“I’m happy to say that in the next two months, we will have five governors of US States visiting India,” said the Indian Ambassador to the US, days before New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy leaves on his maiden trip to India with a high-powered trade delegation.

Phil Murphy is the first governor from New Jersey – a state that has a substantial population of Indian-Americans to visit India. Earlier, Governor Murphy had hosted Mr. Shringla on a dinner.

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson is about to visit India from September 29 to October 6. It will also be the first-ever visit to India by a Governor of Arkansas. Governor Hutchinson already had a working lunch with Mr. Shringla in this summer.

In September, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb would make his second trip to India, as a part of his four-nation Asia sojourn including Japan, China, and South Korea. Governor Holcomb will also watch Indiana Pacers in Mumbai for the first games of the NBA in India.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis has also declared his decision to travel to India with a trade delegation in the presence of Mr. Shringla at a business round-table in Denver. He is further condemned to visit Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

Governor Polis will also participate in Global RE-Invest Expo, which was organized by Indian  Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, scheduled between October 31 and November 2 in Greater Noida.

Delaware Governor John Carney is also about to visit India this fall (Autumn). Besides, Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis of California is scheduled to travel at the earliest to India.
