Greeting each other on the festival of Diwali, the United States President Donald Trump said that the ‘festival of light’ is a ‘special’ opportunity to reflect the bond of friendship between the United States and India.

President Trump said that the First Lady Melania has joined him in sending their best wishes for a memorable and happy Diwali.

He further talks about the ‘extraordinary’ contributions of Indian-Americans in the development of the US.

In a special message for Diwali, yesterday President Trump tweets, “Diwali is a special opportunity to reflect on the bond of friendship between the United States and India.”

His message continues, “We recognize the extraordinary contributions of Indian-Americans to the strength and success of our nation. Their achievements in business and industry, public service, education, scientific research, and other fields continue to represent the very best of our American virtues and the spirit of the Diwali season.”

Asserting that Diwali is spiritual and joyous time marked by Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains, UP President said that ‘lamps if lighting’ on the occasion symbolizes the true meaning of Diwali. That is the triumph of light over the darkness of good over evil.

RNC (Republican National Committee) chairman Ronna McDaniel also has greeted people celebrating Diwali.

She said that “We wish you and your family and friends a meaningful celebration of the victory of light over darkness. We at the RNC will continue to honor the traditions of diverse communities that enrich and strengthen our country.”
