On Wednesday, former President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf claims that JeM was a terror group but indicated that Pak intelligence has used it to carry out attacks in India, during his regime.
Making the declaration in a telephonic interview to Pak Journalist Nadeem Malik of Hum News at his talk show, Mr. Musharraf also embraced the action against JeM (Jaish-e-Mohammed), reports that it had tried to murder him twice in December 2003, records the video footage shared on journalists’ Twitter and Facebook page.
Asked why he had not taken any steps against JeM during his tenure (1999-2008), the former President of Pakistan claimed that those times were ‘different’.
Amid all this activities, not much harsh action were taken against JeM, said Mr. Musharraf, adding that he had not insisted as well.
Jaish-e-Mohammed is led by Masood Azhar, who is alleged for most of the attacks in India, also including the February 14’s Pulwama terror attack, in which 40 CRPF personnel has lost their lives and many were injured.
