India is going to continue talks on an Asian Trade Deal that is being discussed at a summit of regional leaders in Bangkok and which Thailand has announced will be signed next year, said the Australian Trade Minister on Monday.

The remarks threw new doubt over the participation of India in the China-based 16-countries Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) despite a Thai Official has said that India was a part of the deal.

When asked whether India would sign to the RCEP, Australian Minister for Trade Simon Birmingham told sources in Bangkok that “my understanding is… that India is going to continue discussions and negotiations. Our door is always open to India.”
