India and Russia signed a privileged partnership: Russian President Putin’s New Year message to PM Modi - TNBCLive

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent New Year’s greetings to Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the relations between the two nations are developing in the dynamic and constructive way.

Conveying his message to the two Indian leaders, President Putin had also noted that the agreement was reached in October during the India-Russia Annual Summit, which contributes to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, said the Russian Embassy in New Delhi.

It continued that “Vladimir Putin has expressed confidence that joint efforts will lead to further growth of mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas and greater coordination of efforts on key issues on the regional and global agenda within the UN, BRICS, the SCO, the G20, and other multilateral bodies.”

India had signed a $5 billion deal with Russia to purchase S-400 Air Defence System from the country, despite the United States’ several warning of punitive sanctions against country’s military transactions with Moscow.
