On Wednesday, a French tourist was shot dead by an off-duty Thai Police personnel after a drunken bar fight in a seedy Bangkok district, reports Police Department.
The 41-years-old Parisian was gunned down at a downtown apartment block as he had a fight with the Police personnel, who had approached the tourist’s girlfriend, who is a Thai citizen.
The Thailand Chief Immigrant Police Surachate Hakpan told the source that “they were drunk… they started to argue and then had a fist fight but the policeman couldn’t fight back.”
He said, “The policeman followed him back to his place and shot him twice,” adding that the victim had been in Thailand for several months.
The convict Police Sergeant has been immediately arrested and “will be fired… and prosecuted on a murder charge,” added Surachate.
Police are finding the second accused found on the CCTV footage.
Gruesome photos are circulated on Thai media highlights that the victim was lying in a pool of blood in front of a doughnut shop at his resident block.
Bangkok is one of the world’s most visited cities and popular for its varieties of foods and racy nightlife, much of it across Nana district where the crime took place.
Thailand has a formidable reputation for its gun culture over drunken arguments, business disputes and soured romances that ended with violence.
