VIDEO: Panoramic view from NASA’s Curiosity rover

Do you think about what the planet Mars looks like? To answer that question, NASA recently shared panoramic clips captured by its Curiosity rover. The rover has been on Mars searching for any signs of conditions that support and sustain life on the planet. It captured a panorama of what it noticed in Gale Crater on January 30.

The 1.53 minute video clip has been shared by NASA and the rover puts attention on an area of more than 48 kilometers. The caption of the video reads, “The view from Vera Rubin Ridge looks back over buttes, dunes and other features along the route.” The video had garnered more than 2.2 million views, at the time of writing.

In the video, Curiosity Project Scientist Ashwin Vasavada gives a descriptive tour of the Mars rover’s view in Gale Crater. And in case you are wondering why do the rocks look like those on Earth, it is done to aid geologists. Colors in the images are white balanced so rocks appear the same color as the same rocks would on Earth.
