US President Donald Trump last evening addressed thousands of people at the ‘Namaste Trump’ event that was arranged at Motera stadium in Ahmedabad. After having a 22-km roadshow in his “beast”, President Trump visited Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram and then addressed thousands of people at Motera Stadium.
The crowd estimated over 1.25 lakh who cheered when the two leaders initiated their address with “Namaste” and praised each other.
President Trump hugged PM Modi and then gave a long speech over 30 minutes. He mostly stressed on the US-India relationships and praised its unity and diversity as well as economic capability.
Praising PM Modi, Trump said, “PM Modi you are not just the pride of Gujarat, you are living proof that with hard work & devotion, Indians can accomplish anything at all, anything they want. The Prime Minister is a moving story of an incredible rise.”
“I have come to India to expand our relations. PM Modi and I will continue our dialogue to deepen the relation between our countries. Our relations took a new turn when the Indian and US military has a joint exercise – Tiger Triumph. Tomorrow we will sign a $3 Billion dollar defence deal. We want India to become our premier defence partner.”
“India gives hope to humanity. In just 70 years, India has become the largest democracy and has become one of the greatest nations in the world. India will soon become the home to the world’s largest middle class.”
“What is impressive is that India has achieved all this as a democracy and as a tolerant country. India’s achievement is unrivaled.”
“PM Modi and I will be making some very big trade deals to boost our countries economy. I am sure that we can reach a good trade deal. But, PM Modi is a tough negotiator. A booming America is great for India and the world.”
Trump also expressed love about Bollywood movies and Indian cricketers. “India is a creative hub that creates over 2000 movies from Bollywood a year. All over the planet people take great joy in watching Bollywood films, bhangra, and classic films like DDLJ and Sholay. You cheer on great cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
After addressing the packed stadium, Trump made a second Tweet in Hindi, “The First Lady and I travelled 8,000 miles around the world to deliver a message to every citizen of this country. America loves India, America respects India and America’s people will always remain loyal friends with India’s people.”
