BJP Chief Amit Shah has claimed that opposition leaders cannot look after the security of the nation properly.
While addressing an election rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur Constituency, Mr. Shah has alleged that BSP Supremo Mayawati, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, and Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi were upset with the air strikes in Pakistan’s Balakot.
The BJP Chief said that the centre-ruling party cannot do “ILU-ILU” with terrorists, which is an apparent reference to popular short form of “I Love You”.
“Though it were the terrorists of Pakistan who were killed (in the Balakot airstrikes), but it was an atmosphere of mourning in the offices of Bua (Mayawati), Bhatija (Akhilesh) and Rahul baba (Rahul Gandhi),” added Mr. Shah.
He further asked, “I could not find out as to why they were so sad. Why were they moving about with a long face? Were those terrorists their maternal or paternal cousins?”
Mr. Shah claims that BJP will never play with the security of the nation, adding that “If a bullet is fired from there (Pakistan), a bomb will be sent from here (India)… eent ka jawaab patthar se diya jayega (If someone throws bricks, then we will respond by throwing rocks).”
Referring to Congress manifesto promises to scrap the Sedition Law, Mr. Shah said that the move was to prevent those who had reportedly raised “anti-national” slogans, from going to prison.
