Today, Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal by President Ramnath Kovind, for his outstanding services.
Indian Army’s sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh and CRPF personnel Ravindra Babban Dhanwade and Rajendra Nain were posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, which is India’s second highest peacetime gallantry award.
Major Tushar Gauba of 20 Jat regiment was decorated with the Kirti Chakra, awarded for killing three terrorists in close combat along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Twelve officers and jawans from CRPF and Indian Army were also awarded the Shaurya Chakra, which is India’s third highest peacetime gallantry award.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were also present at Rashtrapati Bhavan to participate at the event.
