On July 20, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Kargil to pay homage to martyrs who laid down their lives in Kargil War.
Mr. Singh has lit a “Victory Flame” on July 14 at the National War Memorial in New Delhi which is about to reach Jammu and Kashmir’s Drass on July 26, to celebrate the country’s victory over Pakistan in Kargil War.
The “Victory Flame” will cross through 11 towns and cities to finally culminate at Drass, where it will be combined with the eternal flame at Kargil War Memorial.
Earlier, Mr. Singh was quoted saying, “I pay tribute to our soldiers who gave their lives for the country. I also pay respect to the family members of those soldiers.”
The event was participated by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Northern Army Commander Lt. Gen Ranbir Singh, and many senior officers.
In the 20th anniversary of Kargil War, which is celebrated in a notable manner by the Indian Army with a view of rejoining the pride and courage of all soldiers, who participated in ‘Operation Vijay’.
