On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has participated in a “Mangala Aarti” at the historic Jagannath Temple, ahead of the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Gujarat.

Mr. Shah has dressed in a white shirt and yellow overcoat was accompanied by his wife Sonal Shah to offer prayers to Lord Jagannath.

It is his first visit to Gujarat after he takes oath of office and Home Minister of India.

Amit shah was on a 2-day visit to Gujarat and introduced a number of new projects.

The 142nd Lord Jagannath Yatra matched with Puri’s Rath Yatra and started in the early hours on July 4.   

9-days annual chariot started amid tight security imposed in different localities in Gujarat, during which the procession will pass through after beginning from Lord Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur.

This 420-year-old shrine is popular for its Rath Yatra, which is calculated among the third most significant and largest after holy Rath Yatra in Puri.
