India secured the 2018 Asia Cup with a three-wicket win off at the last ball against Bangladesh, who scored the first hundred from opener Liton Das on Friday in Dubai. India skipper Rohit Sharma praised his team for handling pressure with excellent playing throughout the match.
At the post-match presentation, Captain Rohit Sharma said, “We played some good cricket throughout the tournament and this is the reward of all the hard work throughout the tournament.”
“If you have a team like that, the captain will always look good,” he added.
Rohit Sharma further said that “I have been part of games like this before and credit to the guys in the middle to handle the pressure and to cross the finishing line was a fantastic effort.”
India scored a modest 223-run target as the opposition Bangladesh fought for every single run before India holds the title of achiever victory off the last ball. That was watched tensioned by the crowd at Dubai stadium.
Liton Das held the innings at his 117-ball (121) that featured two sixes and dozen boundaries, but Bangladesh who was offered with batting fast were all out in 48.3 over. Despite Bangladesh team was having an outstanding opening of 120 with Mehidy Hasan.
India’s opener Captain Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were expected to run away the score like they did not play well but Bangladesh was not ready to give up easily.
Rohit Sharma also applause Bangladesh Cricket team for their excellent fighting spirit throughout the tournaments.
He said, “You have to give some credit to Bangladesh. They put us under pressure in the first 10 over.”
Praising Bangladesh team, Captain Sharma said that “It wouldn’t be easy if we didn’t have the support of the remaining 10 players, so I am really proud of the boys.”
Bangladesh Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza while commenting on the match said, “We bowled really well, particularly if we made 240-plus. We asked the batsmen to make at least 260, but at the end of the day the bowlers did really well.”
He further said, “I wanted to bowl the quick first because I wanted to restrict the runs since they were going after us and trying to play shots at that stage.”
It was the country’s Seventh Asia Cup title.
