Yahoo Messenger shut down after 20 years of run

Yahoo Messenger Shut Down- Yahoo Messenger which was listed as the first instant messaging app ruefully struggled while competing with Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, and Whatsapp.

After a 20-year long run, Yahoo messenger was forced to shut down on Tuesday, July 17. Times of India reports that users of this instant messaging app are allowed to download their chat history within six months.

As per as the June 8th Business Insider reports, the proper explanation regarding such closer was not mentioned clearly. Users of Yahoo Messenger will be automatically connected to Squirrel service.

Yahoo in a June press release said that they are much aware of their loyal fans but are helpless rather than taking such steps. With the recent trend, Yahoo Messenger tried to cope up with and focused on introducing new and exciting features for communication to facilitate user demand, exclaimed Yahoo.

The report says that in 2009, Yahoo Messenger has more than 122.6 million users. But with the popularity of Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger, it failed to maintain the latest trend with updating its app with exciting features. This instant messaging app was also famous in the 1990s among commodity and oil traders because it was easy to use, free of cost and was instant support for communication.
