The most popular game PUBG, which can be played online by multiplayer, has been imposed with a digital lock. It has been designed in such a way that the children under 13 years will have to ask their guardians to open the game for them. The mobile version of the game PUBG has especially received the restriction, a game developed by China’s Tencent. Only China has put the restriction.
On Friday, sources said, “Tencent is continuing to double down on how it restricts younger players from accessing some of its games in China, this time with a digital lock system that will lock out players under the age of 13.”
To promote the Chinese government’s decision of cracking down the gaming addiction among the youth, Tencent has imposed the age restriction on the game. The gaming giant is using technologies like facial recognition and player ID checks to ascertain the ages and identities of those playing Honour of Kings and others in China.
Not only that, time limitation and streaming rules have also been imposed to decide that how long players can play the game and to disallow things like violence, information about gambling or pornography, national politics, or other “damaging behavior”, the report added.
The government of China over the past two years has introduced a number of systems to make sure that the youth play the game in a healthy manner. In 2017 a decision was taken to allow the children most of its games to play for one hour a day,
The game PUBG was launched in December 2017, as a multiplayer battle game. It is able to connect players from around the world in real-time and allows them to fight missions.
