The five-part documentary, the much awaited Indian multilingual documentary drama web series ‘Roar of the Lion’ has been released on Wednesday (March 20). Kabir Khan has directed and produced it in which MS Dhoni narrates the story of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings in five episodes of about 20-minutes each.
In the opening of the ‘Roar of the Lion’ MS Dhoni is seen talking about CSK’s suspension getting over ahead of IPL 2018. The great cricketer disclosed that the CSK won the third IPL title just for the fans who believed in the team against all odds. The comeback tagline of CSK was ‘Thirumbi vandhutenu sollu’ which is ‘tell them we are back’ and ended up winning the tournament.
The serial was launched on Hotstar. Mr. Dhoni calls his joining to the CSK as an “arranged marriage” as he did not choose his IPL team.

Talking further Dhoni reveals that 2013 was the darkest phase of his career because it was when the CSK was engulfed in the spot-fixing controversy. In 2015 the Lodha Committee had suspended the franchise for a couple of years.
Gurunath Meiyappan the son-in-law of the team owner N Srinivasan was accused of spot-fixing. Dhoni stated that the team deserves punishment but the amount was too harsh.
The other important players of the team such as Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Shane Watson, Mohit Sharma and coaches Mathew Hayden and Michael Hussey also make appearances in the documentary that completely belongs to MS Dhoni.
Dhoni further added about the comeback of the CSK, “What was important was that we should have the confidence to live up to the expectations of our owners and fans.”
MS Dhoni ends the conversation by saying “performance is not guaranteed but the effort is.”
