On Sunday night, the MI vs CSK IPL 2019 final ended with some controversial moments regarding MS Dhoni’s game-changing runout. Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings not only winning their fourth title but their one-run win over Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium was exactly in the same way they had defeated Pune Warrior in 2017.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni came to came into bat with Shane Waston. The start was very exciting and MS Dhoni came to bat first. MS Dhoni as always does his best at the need of the hour for CSK. He bats patiently and chases the total down one run at a time. Starting the innings slowly, MS Dhoni after scoring just 2 runs stayed at the crease which brought to a premature end courtesy a rocket throw from Mumbai Indian’s Ishan Kishan.
Next, the tension ran high few minutes for both sets of fans after the on-field umpire signaled for the third umpire, Nigel Llong. Replays started playing on TV screens from different angles which served to increase the confusion.
Commentator Sanjay Manjrekar was passionately calling for MS Dhoni to be given out while the other commentators were not so sure. Most of the time the inconclusive nature of the replays see the third umpire ruled in the batsman’s favor but this time it was not for MS Dhoni and his fans as the CSK skipper was given out.
After the match, many CSK fans expressed their anger over the third umpire’s decision though some supported the decision. CSK needed two runs from the last ball to overtake Mumbai Indians’ 149/8 but Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga dismissed Shardul Thakur with a perfect yorker to claim the landmark win.
