On Monday, Delhi Daredevils(DD) lost the match to Kings XI Punjab, in spite of coming close to victory at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
The direction of DD’s route to victory was changed when Mujeeb Ur Rahman succeeded to keep control on the last over. Thus, he clinched the match from the visitor team.
Daredevils only needed 17 runs from the last over but the top scorer batsman, Shreyas Iyer, caught in the deep after successfully scoring 12 runs from first 5 balls in the final over.
DD bowler, Liam Plunkett, who managed to get 3 wickets in the match stated that the win was obvious to them, but losing the game has been quite frustrating for the team.
Plunkett was added as a replacement player to the squad, following the injury of Kagiso Rabada, and made an instant impact on his debut match.
Liam had successfully dismissed the duo of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul (both in-form batsman) in his first spell. Later, he also managed to take Karun Nair’s wicket, who was playing tremendously for Kings XI Punjab.
Plunkett shared his experience regarding ICC WC T20 during 2016, which had helped him to grow and adapt to the playing conditions.
When asked about his recent performance, he told that it felt great to play a match in the IPL. Also, he is quite happy with the way he performed against KXIP and take down few crucial wickets in the debut.
Liam admitted that the team is still stuck at the bottom of the points chart after getting defeated for the 5th time in the IPL tournament. However, the England pacer is hopeful of getting one victory to get back on right track.
He added that there are lot many games left ahead in the IPL, hence, they just need a good win to secure back the momentum for obtaining positive results.
