Far from war, Basra’s cats lap it up in their own hotel

Far far away from the battlegrounds of Iraq, the cat lovers of Basra have found a new haven for their darling pets.

A student of the veterinary stream Ahmed Taher Maki has made his home to be the first cat hotel in Iraq, he stays in the southern city of Basra.

Charging for a very nominal amount of 5000 Iraqi dinars or equivalent to $4.20 a night or half of that for longer stays. The guests who paid can enjoy soft beds with regular meals, checkup of health and also the use of a mini playground all within a cold radius of an air conditioner.

As per Maki, he wants to inspire more and more people to adopt cats in the city and provide them a place to leave their pets back when they are traveling out of the city for any trip.

By taking care of such pets the people will definitely develop a heart full of mercy as stated by Maki, he also thinks that the hotel is a very noble thing and is an exceptional thing in the southern part of Iraq and particularly in Basra.
