Trinamool accused BJP, RSS for clashes in Bengal over appointments of teachers

Trinamool Congress yesterday accused BJP and RSS of the clashes that broke between students and police in West Bengal’s Islampur district. The Bengal-ruling Trinamool also protested strongly against the violence ‘Bandh’ called by BJP today.

A youth died and more than ten were injured in the violence, included policemen as well.

Today, opposition BJP called out for a 12-hours ‘Bandh’ in North Dinajpur district.

A student of Islampur’s Higher Secondary School, who resided 500km north to Kolkata said that he has been protesting since September 18, demand for appointment of teachers for important subjects like Mathematics, history, geography, and science. Therefore, to show protest they have blocked the roads.

Students’ protest has been triggered by the teacher’s appointment for languages. Another school in the same district also showed protest over the same issue on September 19.

Yesterday, during late-night press conference in Kolkata, Bengal’s Education Minister Partha Chatterjee said that he had taken the decision to suspend district Police Inspector for schools and for separately appointments of language teachers.

Mr. Chatterjee further sought a report from North Dinajpur district administration and asked them the reason behind not informing the top brass in Kolkata regarding the issue brewing in the areas for the last three days.

However, TMC accused RSS of the violence, the CPM criticized Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Local parliamentarian Mohammad Salim said that “Mamata Banerjee will use the police to loot votes, grab panchayats and open fire on students.”

Mr. Salim continued, “And some people are even using this incident to create a divide between Hindus and Muslims, pit one neighbourhood against another. We have to understand that these forces are all the same.”

“There were schools, students and teachers earlier also. But in the current situation, some forces are using students and teachers to further politics of communalism and divisiveness. This kind of politics is going on in our country and in our state,” added Mr. Salim.

Denying the charges of the lawmaker, Mr. Chatterjee reports that they are sure of the role of RSS in the creation of violence and said, “We are certain of the RSS role in the incident. They got people from outside. They caused the death as they want to do the politics of death. We condemn the politics of death practiced by the RSS and BJP, and we shall continue our protest against it.”
