On Monday, the Supreme Court has refused to monitor the ongoing CBI probe into West Bengal’s Saradha Chit fund scam.

A two-justice bench comprising of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna did not permit the application, which was filed by some investors that despite of the Supreme Court’s 2013 verdict directing CBI to investigate the chit funding scam. The Saradha Chit fund scam’s investigation has not attained finality yet.

The two-justice bench said that “we are not inclined to set up a monitoring committee to monitor the chit fund scam probe.”

Earlier in 2013, the Supreme Court had transferred the investigation into the chit fund scam to the CBI.
