On Friday, a Chennai-bound man has been detained at the Kolkata Airport for reportedly carrying live bullets and a pistol, reports a CISF official.

BK Munda, who is a resident of Jharkhand, was going through security check-in at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport when a CISF personnel has detected the weapon and seven bullets from his hand baggage, reports the official.

He continued that “A 32 bore calibre pistol and seven live bullets were recovered from the man. He has been handed over to the police as he could not produce valid documents for carrying the firearm and ammunition.”

The accused man was supposed to take a flight to Chennai from Kolkata, added that the passenger was detained under relevant sections of Arms Act.

Arms and Ammunition are not permitted to be carried by passengers according to Indian Aviation Security Rules.
