On Thursday, the CBI has moved to a Court in Kolkata seeking an arrest warrant against former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, accused of Saradha chit fund scam.
The probe agency has claimed that the Senior IPS Officer has failed to before it for supporting in the chit fund scam investigation despite notices being sent to him on several occasions.
Mr. Kumar is not cooperating with the process of investigation, said the CBI lawyers in the Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM), Alipore, Subrata Mukherjee.
The advocate representing Rajeev Kumar is the Additional Director-General of West Bengal CID, informed the Court that he is a witness and not suspect, therefore, the Court cannot issue an arrest warrant against him in this case.
Refusing the charges that he wasn’t cooperating with the investigation, Mr. Kumar’s lawyer has claimed that he is not missing and had already informed the probe agency that he won’t be available from September 1 to 25.
Saradha Chit Fund Scam was lodged at Alipore Court in South 24 Parganas District of West Bengal.
