After 21-years of official separation from Congress, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led TMC has removed ‘Congress’ name from its logo.
The introduced new logo has only Trinamool written in green with blue background and twin flowers. The logo has been in using for a week now, reports a party source.
It was back in the year 1998 that the existing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee broke away from the Congress and formed the new party, TMC over the distinction of opinion on dealing with the then state-ruling CPI (M).
A party leader said that “TMC is called Trinamool and after 21 years, it was time for change.”
The name ‘Congress’ has also been dropped from party posters, banners, and all communication materials.
However, it will remain registered with the EC (Election Commission) as Trinamool Congress, said the party sources.
The official Twitter and Facebook pages of TMC, the Chief Minister, Abhisekh Banerjee, and TMC’s leader in the Rajya Sabha Derek O’Brien already have been the new logo.
