Today, BSP Chief Mayawati has lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “gross misuse of power and machinery” while addressing the nation without prior permission of Election Commission and hoped that the election body will act in a perfect manner.

On Wednesday, Mayawati referred to the Prime Minister’s address to the nation, announced India’s successful test of A-SAT or anti-satellite missile, which put the country in an exclusive club of space superpowers.

She tweeted: “The EC has formed a committee to examine the content of the PM’s address yesterday but the real issue is why & how the PM addressed the country without its prior permission. It is a gross misuse of power & machinery for the electoral benefits. EC must act in an exemplary manner.”

In another post, Mayawati tweeted: “Previous experience proves that like law & order, BJP leaders are habitual offenders in violating Model Code of Conduct. And PM Mr. Modi again flouted poll norms by addressing the country without prior permission of EC though there was no such emergency. Hope the EC acts promptly.”

India shot down one of its anti-satellite missiles in space to demonstrate this complex capability, makes it’s fourth nation to have used such a weapon.

India has established itself as a global space superpower after the success of “Mission Shakti”. The Prime Minister said that the missile hit a live satellite flying in a Low Earth Orbit after it traveled a distance of around 300 km from the earth within 3 minutes of its launch.
