Today, BJP Chief Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a holy dip in the junction of River Ganga and River Yamuna during the ongoing Kumbh Mela at Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. While taking the holy bath, CM Adityanath wore a saffron dhoti.

Mr. Shah visited Sangam, the holy confluence of the Ganges, the mythical Saraswati, and River Yamuna, and offered his prayers. He further performed aarti at Triveni Ghat.

The Sangam in Allahabad is considered as holy and Hindus mainly believe that bathing there during the Kumbh helps them to get rid of sins and bring salvation. Pilgrims set up akhadas and camps on the River banks.

Mr. Shah’s visit considers significance amid demands by several right-wing groups for the government to bring in an ordinance for earliest construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He was reiterated on several occasions that the commitment of his party to the Ram Temple construction cause. Ram Temple in Ayodhya titled case is presently being heard in the top court.

On Tuesday, the BJP Chief has addressed public gatherings in Gujarat and started a nationwide campaign termed it as “Mera Parivaar BJP Parivaar”.

Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh started on January 15, 2019 on the day of Makar Sankranti and will conclude on March 4 on the day of Mahashivratri.
