On Monday, MIM (Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) President Asaduddin Owaisi has filed his nomination from Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat.

Few minutes after the election process has started with the issuing of notification by EC, the outgoing MP from Hyderabad has filed his nomination papers before Returning Officer K Manicka Raj, the District Collector of Hyderabad.

Taking everyone by surprise, the MIM President along with MLA Ahmed Pasha Khadri has reached the Hyderabad District Collector’s Office and has filed the nomination.

Mr. Owaisi tweets, “Alhamdulilah, filed my nomination papers today. Hyderabad Parliamentary Constituency has been the voice of India’s impoverished, oppressed and weak. Inshallah, it will continue to be so.”

He is seeking re-election from Hyderabad for four consecutive regimes as the parliamentary constituency has been a stronghold of MIM for more than three decades.

Mr. Owaisi’s father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi used to represent the constituency and was elected from 1984 to 2004 for six consecutive terms.
