All major railway stations on the Shimla-Kalka heritage train route will get the service of free Wi-Fi, reports officials on Wednesday.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has introduced free Wi-Fi facility along with “hop-on hop-off” train services, which will allow passengers get down at any station and board another incoming train without getting any tickets.
Mr. Thakur said, “This would help in boosting tourism on wayside stations like Barog, Solan, Shogi and so on.”
CM Jai Ram Thakur has also inaugurated several other modern facilities for the Kalka-Shimla heritage train route, along with a modern toilet complex.
He has also laid the foundation stones of two lifts at Railway Station of Shimla and the projects for re-fixing of Shimla extension station.
On the occasion, Mr. Thakur has praised Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal for showing interest in modernizing Shimla Railway Stations other than only upgrading the Kalka-Shimla railway route.
