The Chhattisgarh’s Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence has detected a fraud of Rs. 141 crore, said the officials. Over having connection in the GST fraud, two accused have been detained.

Central GST and Excise Department of Raipur has unwrapped the GST fraud.

An official reports that “the Proprietor of Shyam Sales Corporation Aayush Garg and his partner Santosh Agrawal were taken into custody. The firm deals in iron products.”

He continued, “The firm in its records, has shown that it had purchased raw material of Rs. 141 crore from 12 Odisha-based companies that actually don’t exist.”

“On the pretext of such fake purchases, the company has committed misappropriation of Rs. 21 crore tax money,” added the official.

Furthermore, the probe revealed that among the vehicles that were displayed as used to fetch the raw material, most were 2-wheelers and had not passed the toll points, which were mentioned in the lists.

After a case was registered, Chhattisgarh Police has produced the convict before the court from where the accused were sent for two days of judicial custody.
