On Tuesday, the department of Odisha Housing and Urban Development claims that Cyclone Fani has damaged around Rs. 525 crores worth of assets in the state. Cyclone Fani has hit the coastal state of Odisha on May 3.

While addressing a press release at Bhubaneswar, Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development G Mathivathanan said that “fifty-three urban local bodies have been severely affected. 291 km of drains, 750 km of roads, 267 culverts have been damaged. Other infrastructures like parks, playgrounds, community centers, town halls, and others have been badly affected.”

Mr. Mathivathanan continued that the water supply was affected badly in around 20 towns due to the cyclonic storm, while street lights were also affected.

Number of deaths in the coastal-state due to Cyclone Fani has reached 64 with Puri records the maximum number of deaths at 39, claims an official estimates released by Odisha Government.
