Today, the India Meteorological Department has predicted in its summer forecast, the months of March, April and May are “likely to be warmer than normal” over northwest, west, central and parts of south India.
Above normal heatwave conditions are also likely in the core heat wave (HW) zone during the season (March-May), the weather department said. The weather forecasting agency further added that the MAM season temperature is likely to be warmer than usual by >=0.5 degrees Celsius over northwest, west and central India and some subdivisions from south India.
The states that will come under the heatwave zones are Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana and parts of Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar.
“Near normal temperatures are likely in the remaining subdivisions. Above normal heatwave conditions are likely in the core heat wave (HW) zone during the season (MArch-May),” the IMD tweeted.
