On Thursday, the CBI has registered a case against Videocon’s Mumbai Office head Venugopal Dhoot and former ICICI Bank Chief Chanda Kocchar’s husband Deepak Kochhar in a case to alleged irregularities in the loan. The investigation agency has searched the Mumbai and Aurangabad Videocon office of Mr. Dhoot today.

In October 2018, Chanda Kochhar resigns as CEO and Managing Director of ICICI Bank over the issue, which involves a loan of Rs. 3250 crore to Videocon Group in 2012. Last year, the case exploded when a whistleblower accused that Deepak Kochhar, husband of Chanda Kochhar and family members got benefited from the dealings.

Venugopal Dhoot accused that invested crores of rupees in NuPower Renewables, founded by Mr. Kochhar, months after Videocon group’s loan was granted by the bank.

After initially back supports of Mrs. Kochhar, ICICI Bank has declared that its board had decided to set-up a “comprehensive enquiry” probe the charges. As more allegations came highlighted, a multi-agency investigation was launched by CBI.
