Over the allegation of raping a Maharashtra woman, a 48-years old self-styled ‘faith healer’ has been arrested. The man was pretending to help the lady to get rid out of her sufferings but intended to rape her, reports Maharashtra Police on Saturday.

The convict identified as Ajay Chowdhari, who is a resident of Virar area got arrested on yesterday night, said Palghar Police.

The 37-years old victim in her lodged complaint said that she came in contact with Mr. Chowdhari in last year’s May when he pretended to help her and gave a ‘taveez’, which he said would fix all her troubles.

The convict also raped the lady on several occasions till this year October with the same pretend of helping her and conceives a baby, quoted the complaint lodged by the victim, said the Policeman.

However, the lady later realized that she had been fraud and sexually assaulted by the man. Therefore, she decided to lodge a complaint against the culprit on Friday.

Based on her lodged complaint, the convict was arrested and put custody under IPC Sections for criminal intimidation, rape and provisions of Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifices and other Inhuman, Aghori and Evil Practices and Black Magic Act, added the Policeman.
