Metro Passengers Struggle as Six – car Metro develops snag

Bangalore: Due to the technical snag Metro passengers had a tough time on Monday morning after the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) failed to operate the six-car train. They had to battle for space in the crammed three-car trains, especially during peak hours on the purple line. “The service was resumed at 5: 34 pm. But earlier in the day, it resulted in chaos at many stations, prompting passengers to take to social media to vent their anger” said BMRCL officials.

One of the passengers, Mahesh G tweeted: “Stampede situation today at Majestic. Even if you are running loop service, the situation is grim. Today, the security staff had to switch off escalators to make people stand there and the stairs and the rush was such that the queue went to the floor above”

“There was a minor technical issue with the broken system and it was set right. The train is back in service as per the evening schedule. A three-car coach was inducted in close frequency to manage the Monday rush” mention by BMRCL chief public relations officer UA Vasanth Rao.
