Bengaluru: In charge Principal alleged that Students and Women Professors of Maharani Arts, Commerce, and Management College for women are being harassed by a self-proclaimed RTI activist who is the canteen operator. On May 6, who is also head of the sociology department, complained to High Grounds police and Karnataka State Women’s Commission. The state women’s commission chief inspected the canteen.

“He barges into the room and sits on my chair, pushes chairs of the other professors and threatens to file RTIs and expose us. One day, when a superintendent left the campus, he barged into my room and asked me why the person had left without seeking his permission. When I did not answer, he called me inefficient. On another occasion, when I came back a meeting with the Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner, he kept asking me to write down what had happened at the meeting and show it to him.” said B Renuka in charge Principle.

On Monday, Nagalakshmi Bai, Chairperson of the commission, inspected the college and the canteen and discussed the investigation with police. She also enquired about the problems faced by girls on the campus. “We will ensure the campus is safe,” she said.
