BJP President of Karnataka, BS Yeddyurappa has claimed that India’s air strikes on terror training camps in Pakistan’s Balakot on February 26 has created a wave in favor of PM Modi and will assist the party to win more than 22 and 28 seats in Karnataka in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, scheduled on May.
On Wednesday, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that “the atmosphere….day by day, the wind is increasingly blowing in favor of the BJP. Yesterday’s (Tuesday’s) action of destroying terror hideouts by entering inside Pakistan has resulted in a pro-Modi wave in the country, the results of which can be seen in coming Lok Sabha polls.”
The former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa said, “It has enthused youths; all this will help us in winning more than 22 Lok Sabha seats (in Karnataka).” In Karnataka, BJP has 16 Parliamentary seats, Congress 10 and Janata Dal secular 2-seats.
His comments have added fuel to the allegation of the opposition of “blatant politicization” of the armed forces scarifies by the “leaders of the ruling party (BJP)”.
Twenty-one opposition parties said in a statement that national security “must transcend narrow political considerations.”
Madhya Pradesh Congress reacted to Mr. Yeddyurappa’s comment, tweeted: “They have no shame. The country is tense, our pilot is in Pakistan’s custody, soldiers’ families are worried, and BJP is counting seats…Such lowdown politics.”
On Tuesday, in pre-drawn Indian Air Force fighter jets cross the LoC for the first time since 1971 and destroyed a terrorist training camp of JeM, the terrorist outfit responsible for Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which took lives of more than 40 CRPF jawans.
The government claims that the air strike was successful and a “very large number” of terrorists, senior commanders and trainers were also killed.
Amid escalating hostiles, on Wednesday, Pakistan has captured an Indian Air Force pilot after an air strike, after which the government became strong.
