Today, once again Prime Minister Narendra Modi targets Congress and the Gandhis over the extradition of ‘middleman’ and main convict Christian Michel in AgustaWestland chopper deal, who was brought back to the country on Tuesday late night.
While speaking at a rally in election-bound Rajasthan, PM Modi said that “The VVIP helicopter scam took place during the UPA rule. We investigated the scam after coming to power and caught one of the accused. You must have read in the papers that the government has got him extradited from Dubai. Who knows what secrets will tumble out once he starts talking?.”
India is investigating the charges of a British man, Michel, who is alleged for organizing bribes to encourage Rs. 3600 crores contract for VVIP helicopters to be purchased for a top Indian leader.
The AgustaWestland case involves the deal of purchasing 12 luxury helicopters for use by India’s President, Prime Minister, former Prime Ministers, and other VVIPs when Congress-led Manmohan Singh’s government was in power.
Michel’s extradition by Dubai came via on a day Union Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has held discussions in Abu Dhabi with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed.
54-years old Christian Michel was interrogated throughout the night at the CBI headquarters, which will be disclosed today before Delhi High Court.
He is one of the three accused middlemen, who is being examined in the case, along with Carlo Gerosa and Guido Haschke.
