Vijay Goel says, ready for debate in Parliament over Rafale fighter jets deal - TNBCLive

Congress is running away from a debate on the Rafale fighter jets deal in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha reports Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel on Tuesday while asserting that the BJP government is ready for discussion on any issue.

Dispute be it on Rafale jet deal, RBI, Cauvery River water or CBI, which can only be fixed through debate in Parliament, claims Mr. Goel.

Mr. Goel continued that “The Congress is running away from a discussion on the Rafale issue in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The government is ready to have discussions on any issue in Parliament.”

Citing to the recent order of the Supreme court rejecting the demand for an investigation into the Rafale fighter jets deal, Mr. Goel said that it was clear that Congress tried to spread “misinformation” over the issue.

On Friday, the Supreme Court has dismissed the plea challenging the agreement between France and India for the procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets saying that there was no occasion to “   really doubt the decision-making process.”

Mr. Goel further said that “I want to tell the Congress that the government is ready for a discussion on the issue of Rafale… But the Congress is not ready for a discussion and its members are instead raising unimportant issues in both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.”

Congress has repeatedly criticized the deal for the 36 Rafale fighter jets, accused that the government was procuring each aircraft at a cost of more than Rs. 1,670 crore against Rs. 526 crore finalized by the UPA government.

However, the government has denied any irregularities in the deal.
