After intelligence inputs of the threat of explosions triggered by Pakistan’s spy agency ISI, the Railways has issued a high alert on the two stations in Punjab’s border district of Pathankot. On Saturday, the two railway stations named Pathankot Cantonment station and Pathankot Junction station were issued an alert by the Railways.
All the staffs at the stations were directed by the advisory to carry out throughly checkings in parking areas and points where people have gathered. The employees were told not to park their vehicles in the parking area or on railway station platforms.
Any kind of doubtful items on the two stations must be checked by the Railway’s employee. The Pathankot Cantonment station is 2 km from the Air Force station and around 20 km from the International Border.
In January 2016, seven soldiers were killed after some heavily-armed terrorists, who sneaked into India from Pakistan, attacked an Air Force station in Pathankot. An intense four-day operation was executed after the attack and six terrorists were shot dead.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Pakistani officials are meeting along the border in Punjab to discuss technical points for the Kartarpur Sahib corridor project when the stations are on high alert.
