A teenage student died after he slips into a waterfall while clicking selfie at a popular picnic spot in Odisha. The victim had gone to the Bhimkund waterfall, was taking a selfie there with his friends when he slips and fell into the waterfall in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.

The victim student, Rohon Mishra was from Cuttack.

A video was released by a news source, which shows that a person being swept away by the raging waters as he tried desperately to stay afloat. Most of the people were seen rushing down to the edge of the waterfall to try and assist the man.

A case has been filed after the accident.

Over 250 people across the world died while clicking selfies in the last 6-years, as per the study by the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Delhi.

Out of the 259 deaths, the research team found that the leading cause to be drowning, which is followed by cases having involvement in transportation- for instance, clicking a selfie in front of an oncoming train and fallen from the heights.
