On Tuesday, a woman journalist has registered a police complaint against BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty for harassing and assaulting her, recorded the statements before a magistrate. 

On June 14, the City Police had booked the BJD MP, his younger brother Anuprasa Mohanty and his wife Varsha Priyadarshini for reportedly assaulting a woman journalist.

Earlier, the police had recorded the statement of the complaint under IPC Section 161 of CrPC and had interrogated some witnesses. 

However, asserting police inaction, last week the woman journalist had staged a dharna in front of the Purighat Police Station in demand for justice. 

Taking forward the probe, the police has recorded the statement of the victim journalist before the Cuttack Sadar Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate under section 164 of CrPC.  

Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh told sources that the probe in the case is now in the final stage.
