The state-ruling Biju Janata Dal has named the Odisha Finance Minister Shashi Bhusan Behera as its contestant from Kendrapara Assembly Constituency in coastal Odisha.
With the nomination of Mr. Behera, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led BJD has declared the names of all its nominees for 21 Lok Sabha Constituencies and 147 Assembly Seats in Odisha.
In the outgoing Assembly, Shashi Bhusan Behera is representing Jayadev Constituency, earlier was denied a ticket for re-election, as the party has handed over the sitting seat to ex-MLA Arabinda Dhali.
Prior to win in Jayadev Constituency, Mr. Behera was a Member of Rajya Sabha from 2010-2014.
As dissatisfaction prevailed among a section of BJD leaders over the nomination of Mr. Dhali from Jayadev Constituency, BJP has replaced its sitting legislator in Kendrapara, Kishore Chandra Tarai with Shashi Bhusan Behera.
The state Finance Minister is pitted against Congress candidate Ganeswar Behra and BJP candidate Sunakar Behera from Kendrapara Constituency. Odisha is scheduled to vote in the fourth round of the election on April 29.
