Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and the Speaker of US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi would attend an event to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of Matin Luter King Jr. and the 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi in Washington on October 2. 

Eminent Indian-Americans, top American lawmakers, American government officials, and diplomatic corps members are likely to attend the event to celebrate the inheritance of these two great personalities, who have shaped the destinies of India and the United States. 

This special event is organized in Washington by the Indian Embassy, which would take place at the premises of the historic building of the ‘Library of Congress’. Ms. Pelosi will be the featured speaker at the event on October 2. 

The Indian Embassy in Washington has also organized a series of events throughout the whole year to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It had further organized an exhibition on “Father of the Nation” August 15.
