On Wednesday, Robert Vadra said that he will neither leave the country nor take part in politics actively till his name is cleared in the ongoing money laundering scam. Mr. Vadra is the husband of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who recently joined the grand old party as General Secretary.
While speaking to the source, Mr. Vadra said, “I am in this country, there are people who have looted the country and run away, what about them? I am always going to be in this country, I will not leave or be in active politics till I clear my name, that is my promise.”
On February 28, Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi brother-in-law had indicated his interest to join politics actively. He also hinted that if and when he opted to contest, Mr. Vadra might do it from Moradabad.
He justified his statement to contest from Moradabad as “I was born in Moradabad and have spent childhood in Uttar Pradesh and I think I understand that area. However, I can stay anywhere and I believe I will be able to understand them,” added Mr. Vadra.
On Saturday, a Delhi Court has extended his interim bail till March 19, in having links with a money laundering scam.
The Patiala House Court has also adjourned the hearing to Manoj Arora of anticipatory bail, which is a close aide of Robert Vadra.
The next hearing for the case is scheduled on March 19, informed the Patiala House Court.
