On Friday, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the government has approved NIA (National Investigation Agency) proposal to open a research cell on terror outfit ISIS. He continued that over 100 new posts have been created in NIA for effective supervision and investigation.
While inaugurating two new office-cum-housing complexes of NIA in Guwahati, Mr. Singh said that “terror funding is a big factor in promoting terrorism. With NIA’s role, there has been a decline in terror funding.”
Mr. Singh said that the NIA has been successful in achieving coordination with other agencies like anti-terror squads and police of different states, adding that “the conviction rate of the NIA is 92 percent. It is a matter of pride for all us.”
Rajnath Singh further said that the fake currency notes circulation in the country has been declined because of combined efforts of NIA and other state and central agencies.
NIA’s project in Guwahati has been built at a cost of Rs. 40 crores and widespread across 9830 sq meters. Besides residential quarters and office buildings, it has barracks for soldiers and a community centre, reports source.
