On Thursday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has expressed sorrow for flood victims in North-Eastern and North States of India. 

Mrs. Vadra tweets, “My heartfelt solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Assam, Bihar, UP, Tripura and Mizoram who are being devastated by floods. #AssamFloods.”

Overflowing rivers and landslides in the North-Eastern and Northern States has been affected by massive rainfall, which left many dead and lakhs of people homeless and properties have also been destroyed.

In the 33 districts of Assam, over 44.96 lakhs people have been affected by the flood. Due to uncontrollable floods in the state, around 17 people have lost their lives – one person each from Dhubri,Hailakandi, Barpeta, and Goalpara, two each from Jorhat,  Dhemaji, Nagaon, three from Golaghat, and four from Morigaon – lost their lives because of landslides in Dima Hasao and Kamrup. 

In Bihar, over 33 people lost their lives due to floods. 19 National Disaster Response Force teams are operating in Bettiah, Araria, Supaul, Didarganj, Katihar, Motihari, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Gopalganj, Madhubani, and Muzaffarpur to manage flood-like circumstances due to heavy rainfall.

14 people have also lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh due to rain-related accidents in distinct districts of the state.
