Prime Minister Modi appreciated works of Gujarat’s Dawoodi Bohars at a Muslim event

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the work done by Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community for the contribution of the nation. PM Modi said that the concept of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, which means that the ‘world is one family’, gives the nation a unique identity and differentiates it from other countries.

PM Modi participated at an event, organized by the Dawoodi Bohra community at the Saifee Mosque, where Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, religious head of Muslims were also present.

He said that “The concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam gives a distinct identity to India from the rest of the world and the Bohra community is an example of it.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of the first Prime Minister of India to address a religious congregation organized by Dawoodi Bohras and sect among the Shia Muslims. On the day, the sect considered Ashara Mubaraka as an annual get-together, which is done to honor and remember Prophet Mohammad and Imam Husayn.

PM Modi said that the Dawoodi Bohra community has always performed peacefully and once worked hand-in-hand with Mahatma Gandhi.

While talking about the community in his hometown Gujarat, present Prime Minister of India said that “My relationship with the Bohra community goes way back. I always felt at home with them. Even today the doors are all open for them.”

“Due to your contribution, many villages in Gujarat received drinking water. The community contributed to development in Gujarat,” he added.

PM Modi further praised the Dawoodi Bohra community for their honesty in business and trade and made a remark that they set instances for others in the nation.
