In a shocking incident of mob killing, two men were beaten to death by villagers of Assam’s Gargaon over suspicion of killing the village headman on Wednesday, reports Assam Police.

Villagers report that Ranjit Das and Bipin Das, both in their 30s, suspected of killing the village headman Gauranga Das on Tuesday. And later has buried his dead boy in a nearby graveyard to hide their crime.

Gargaon comes under the Bijni Police Station in Chirang district of Assam, which is 170 km away from Guwahati.

Assam Police sources claim that Mr. Da’s family members along with other villagers have visited the graveyard and ungraved the body. Then the outrageous villagers have attacked the suspects Ranjit and Bipul, accused of killing their village headman.

Assam Police has reached the incident spot and brought the situation under control. Later from their wounds, the two suspects have died.

Police sources also informed that the local villagers have claimed that the two suspects have admitted that they had killed Mr. Das and buried him in a nearby graveyard. It further said that six months ago, the village headman had taken strict action against those two suspects in a village kangaroo court, which might be the reason for killing him.

Therefore, villagers also claim that the two men had a grudge against Mr. Das for this reason.

Two separate cases have been filed, one for the killing of the village headman Gauranga Das and other for mob killing of the two suspects. However, state police is yet to make any arrest.
