Expressing concern on the health of Manipur-based journalist, who is currently under detention, Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi has targeted the BJP, accused that the party has “no respect” for freedom of speech.
According to sources, the Manipur-based journalist Kishorechandra Wangkhem has been jailed since November 27 under the NSA (National Security Act), had taken seriously ill and is treated at JIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences) in Imphal.
Mr. Gandhi said in a Facebook post, which reads: “I am concerned about the failing health of Mr. Wangkhem. I understand that there’s no respect for freedom of speech in the BJP but I’d still expect some humanity from its governments.”
He continued, “I wish you a speedy recovery, Mr. Wangkhem. My prayers are with you.”
Manipur is governed by BJP.
