On Friday, the Delhi High Court has extended the interim protection from arrest till March 25, granted to ex-Union Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti over the Aircel-Maxis cases registered by the Enforcement Director and CBI.

A Special Judge OP Saini has adjourned the matter after senior advocate Sonia Mathus has appeared for the CBI, sought time to argue over their anticipatory bail applications.

The same request was also made by the ED’s Special Public Prosecutors NK Matta and Nitesh Rana that was allowed by the court.

During the hearing, senior advocates AM Sinhgvi and Kapil Sibal appeared for the father-son duo, opposed the adjournment sought by the probe agencies, claims a lot of time has been spent since lodging of the applications.

The case related to the accused irregularities in grant of FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board) approval in the Aircel-Maxis deal.
